Primary energy sources
Primary energy sources (crude oil, natural gas, coal)
Fossil fuels continue to enjoy the lion’s share of the world's energy resources; however, only 15% of these energy resource are used as feedstock for petrochemical plants and the rest is consumed as fuel. Methane, ethane, propane, butane, naphtha, kerosene and fuel oil are among the main feeds used in the supply chain of the petrochemical industry. In the first production chain of petrochemical complexes, each of these feeds is converted into the basic products of the industry, including methanol, ammonia, olefins and aromatics.
